This small renovation paid big dividends for the staff and patients of Springfield Hospital. Where instruments once sat on top of other instruments in the hospital lab, a new space allows room for growth and accommodates the latest equipment. The expanded lab includes grossing and pathology, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and the hospital’s blood bank.

Next door, a new multipurpose clinic overlooks a landscaped courtyard. The clinic contains an infusion area for chemotherapy and exam rooms which are used on alternate days for dermatology, cardiology, and neurology. A medications room and more storage, as well as a private oncology room, allows these multiple uses to overlap more easily. Both spaces, which are among the most used at the hospital, are now steps from the main entrance.
