Saint Albans Town Hall Opens to the Public
December 9, 2022
In early December the Town of St. Albans officially took up residence at its new town hall at 389 Georgia Shore Road.
A new town hall has been on the town’s wishlist for decades. The old town hall, a 120-year-old building on Lake Street, had multiple issues ranging from outdated heating and cooling to accessibility problems for visitors with limited mobility.
The new, 13,000 square-foot building addressed these issues and more in a bright, modern building that pays homage to the town’s history as a railroad hub and port city.
The project came in on budget at $250 a square foot for construction costs—a very respectable number given inflationary pressures and supply chain disruptions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s just amazing that we’re here, we’re at budget, and I think that’s great,” selectboard vice-chair Bryan Deslauriers said in a recent article in the St Albans Messenger.
