Rumford Hospital
Central Maine Healthcare
Rumford Hospital is the quintessential early 20th century hospital and the anchor of a hilltop neighborhood of healthcare services. FFF’s master plan allowed the hospital to stay on its current site while consolidating all 24-hour functions on one level for maximum staffing efficiency.
Phase One of the project included an interim Emergency Department, a new main entrance and registration area, expansion of laboratory services, a new pre-operative area, and a new recovery room for ambulatory surgery.
Phase Two consolidates all inpatient services into a single 25 bed unit, including two ICU rooms; a two-bed maternity suite with a third “swing” room that can be used as a traditional inpatient room or an LDRP; 16 private rooms designed with accommodations for family members; and two semi-private rooms. The project also includes new materials management facilities, a new pharmacy, and a new operating room.
The new design incorporates HIPAA requirements for both visual and acoustical privacy of patient transactions and records. With the major work of the master plan complete, the facility is ideally positioned to provide Critical Access services in an efficient, state-of-the-art setting.
